A very cool “advertising thing” happened at the Oscars on Sunday night, and I hope you noticed it! In collaboration with Disney Advertising (Disney owns ABC, which was the network running the show), Jimmy Kimmel’s Kimmelot creative lab, and Ryan Reynold’s Maximum Effort agency there was a suite of ads created to honor and celebrate the stunt people of Hollywood from five brands: Carnival Cruise Line, Kiehl’s, L’Oréal Paris, MNTN, and Samsung.
While each ad ran separately during the night with a separate story line, each ad featured a stunt and a stunt person in true Hollywood storytelling form.
Singularly each ad was great, but all together the suite of ads was absolutely fabulous when all strung together! Take a look at all six …
I love the collaborative effort in bringing to life this tribute to a very special Hollywood craft on a very special Hollywood night, especially honoring folks that are sometimes overlooked. The teams that teamed up to bring this all together have done something similar before, to success, so I’m betting that we may be seeing more of this collab in the future.
Innovation … bring it!
Having viewers view and notice advertising is getting harder and harder, so we as marketers have to get more and more clever.
