Lady Gaga for FireAid LA #MusicMonday

I’ve (perhaps sadly) been around long enough to see far too many benefit concerts come and go to raise money for relief efforts, starting way back to the 1980’s for hurricanes and floods and mass shootings and yes remember all the pandemic relief efforts (!), and now the rampant fires in Los Angeles that are by far the worst on record.

FireAid LA.

And while it’s sad to see yet another benefit concert have to come and go, it’s still inspiring to see this kind of star power come together to share their talents to raise money to help other people. FireAid for LA was on Thursday, 1/30, and it was star-studded to say the least with one inspiring performance after another with some great mash-ups along the way.

I’d like to highlight a song that Lady Gaga wrote for the moment to bring light to the moment that she and her fiance thought would capture the moment.

And then at the Grammy Awards last night, Lady Gaga again paid tribute to those suffering from the devastation by singing a classic song with Bruno Mars called “California Dreamin’.” Beautiful!

Music does heal, that is for sure. Again, a shining moment in the broadcast which was also working to raise money for fire relief efforts, which is amazing.

And then this happened too … during a commercial break, Lady Gaga dropped her new single from her forthcoming album. She’s been hinting about it, and she finally did it. And why not do it at The Grammy’s amidst all this other activity she’s doing to give back. It’s her brand, after all. And her new single is going back to the roots of her brand, dance. Much to many a fan delight.

All of this proving that music brings us together, can heal us, can raise us up, and can support us, and can bring us relief.

Many thanks to all the artists (and many others) bringing relief efforts.

What’s your experience? JIM
