“Mayhem” from Brand Lady Gaga #MusicMonday

On Friday March 7th, 2025, Brand Lady Gaga launched her 7th studio album that fans have been calling LG7, but we all now know is called “Mayhem.” It’s already set to top the album charts at #1 in its first week (no small feat) largely because we’ve already heard two top-selling singles from the album (and they are both the bomb in their own way).

The first single was “Die with a Smile” with Bruno Mars and it just recently won another Grammy Award for them both, but of course.

Then the second single just came out more recently and is a return to Gaga’s pop origins as a dance banger. What is not to love with “Abracadabra?!?”

The launch of the album and its first singles has been so well timed, including Gaga as guest host and musical performer on Saturday Night Live this past Saturday, the day after the album release. Perfection, but of course. She is after all both a singer and an actress, so why not do both!

Gaga’s return to her “signature sound” on this album is a smart calculated move as she has experimented throughout her career with many styles but not always to commercial success. But I think she’s ok with that, and that is exactly who she is.

But as a Brand you do have to come back and give your fans what they want along your journey. And Gaga’s die hard fans want that Gaga sound above all else, along with all the other things too.

And speaking of Brand Lady Gaga, she does have her Brand down …

  • Her fans have a name: Little Monsters.

  • Her content hub is branded: Gagaflix.

  • She’s launching a radio station on SiriusXM where listeners can hear behind the scenes stories and hand-picked song selections: GagaRadio

  • Her stage name has an origin story: The song “Radio GaGa” by Queen

  • She has a charitable foundation, tied to her core beliefs: Born This Way Foundation

I’m not sure there are many other entertainers who are quite as “Branded” as Lady Gaga, and especially quite so purposefully.

Since it’s #MusicMonday, here’s the title track from “Mayhem.”

Well done, Brand Lady Gaga. Can’t wait to see what you do next, which is probably the best compliment you can give to a brand!

What’s your experience? JIM
