“The Monster Who Came to Tea” for International Women’s Day
Source: YouTube
Timed to launch for International Women’s Day this past weekend, the U.K. organization Women’s Aid has re-written a popular children’s book in an attempt to get U.K. government budgets re-written for domestic abuse funding for domestic violence services for women.
Now that certainly is aligned with this year’s IWD theme, “Accelerate Action!”
The original children’s book is “The Tiger Who Came for Tea” but in this adaptation it’s “The Monster Who Came for Tea” where the monster is young girl Lily’s father who is quite abusive to her mother.
Take a look at the video, although it’s a tough one …
The video will be distributed across social media and movie theaters and comes with an open letter that viewers can sign to persuade the government to approve the funding for the services.
Quite an ambitious project where you have an organization working to get grass roots support to influence government funding. I hope it works. Very creative and very compelling approach that will certainly capture attention, which is the right pathway for sure.
Let’s keep on eye out for results.
All involved should be very proud of the effort, for sure, and I am also sure that there are countless families that are very appreciative of the work.
What’s your experience? JIM
