Super Bowl 2025 - Healthcare Dominates the Field #FeelingFriday

I am feeling so proud right now …

I’ve been in healthcare marketing, advertising, promotion, and communications my entire career (sometimes fully dedicated and somtimes part of my client mix) and to tell you the truth I am tired of seeing healthcare brands take the back seat to creativity when showcasing great work in our industry … be it at award shows or in big pop culture moments like at the Super Bowl.

Well not at this year’s Super Bowl! Healthcare dominated. Some could say, I would definitely say, healthcare stole the show. Maybe even saved the show. Certainly across the playing field of the commercials, the best and the brightest spots were amongst the healthcare brands.

I was, and still am, beaming. I felt so proud for our industry. We showed up and we connected with audiences, we commanded attention, and yes we played!

Let’s start with my pick for best in show in any category … from Novartis with “Your Attention Please.” From the teaser before the game all the way to the game, this spot has game and it certainly caught people’s attention for a very worthy purpose. I’m just going to say, thank you Novartis” for putting this out there on such a big stage.

Another big moment came from Pfizer, with another big moment of thundering applause from the viewing crowd. Ringing that cancer bell is everything, and watching the emotion of that strong kid “knocking out” cancer is everything … along with the declarative of knocking out 8 more cancers by 2030. Take a look …

And we also saw a relatively new entrant in healthcare enter the game as well, hims & hers, a brand going direct to consumer looking to transform care across multiple categories. The brand’s Super Bowl spot focused on weight loss.

I’m going to throw one more into the healthcare mix, because I think it’s super cute, because I teach at NYU, and because it shows another side to healthcare … healthcare systems.

This all makes me so proud to be working in healthcare marketing for so many reasons, not the least of which right now for its ability to be creative, engaging, inspiring, and motivating for better health outcomes.

Congratulations to all the folks who contributed to this great work and thank you to all the healthcare workers who take great care of their patients. Thank you!

What’s your experience? JIM
