Song Lyrics - "Imagine"

I love a well written song.  For me, it's the same as a well written piece of advertising.  It has a "universal truth" or consumer insight that connects with us emotionally and hooks us in.  And makes us either hum along (with a great melody) or makes us (yes makes us) remember it.

There's a new song from Lady Antebellum (the folks that wrote "It's a quarter after one, I'm a little drunk and I need you now") that to me is so well written.  It's called "Just a Kiss" and it's all about finding that special person and not wanting to move too fast and blow it.  So you start with "Just a Kiss" the first night.  I'm not a country music person but that song is so insightful and dead-on emotionally.  Love the lyrics.

And then there are those songs that have been in the "soundtrack" of our lives all along but we've never really paid attention to the lyrics.  We sing along perhaps, but never really notice the lyrics or the story, until something propels us to connect.

That just happened to me over the weekend with the John Lennon song "Imagine."  Can't even begin to count how many times I've heard that song!  But I never really paid attention to the story it was telling until a young man from the tv show "The X Factor" stopped me in my tracks.  Actually it was a friend on Facebook who posted the YouTube video who pushed it in front of my face, and I stopped in my tracks.

I'll let the video tell the story, but let's suffice it to say that I now understand the meaning of "Imagine" and will never ever be able to listen to it again without taking it seriously.  Holy cow.
