Holiday Advertising 2019
We’ve seen the coffee companies come out with their holiday cups this week, so I thought it only appropriate to highlight the first few holiday adverts (from retailers) hitting the market. “Tis the season, after all!
The very first one, to my eye, is from the retailer Argos in the UK. Every year they launch a “Book of Dreams” and this year they did a fabulous job of bringing at least one dream to life:
Next up is Target, out of the US. Target generally doesn’t disappoint with its holiday advertising as well, generally with lots of humor, style, and color. But this year we have something different: a new cover of the classic Donna Summer iconic song “I Feel Love” from Sam Smith:
I have a feeling that we’ve only just begun, and I promise to cover many more and perhaps with more cover songs! Just for fun, I also want to include one of my all time favs from the UK retailer John Lewis from five years ago:
BTW, once this ad dropped, Monty the Penguin stuffed animals sold out within days! Bravo!
Enjoy the season! What’s your experience? JIM
PS - Speaking of the Donna Summer cover in the Target spot, here’s the original song from the Diva herself:
