Corona and IKEA Replace Plastics
Getting rid of plastics…
While it’s not the first beer brand to replace its plastic 6-pack holder with something biodegradable (some indie brands have already done so), Corona is the biggest global brand to do so. In fact after an initial test in their hometown of Tulum, Mexico, the brand is rolling it out globally. Bravo! Corona is all about the beach and keeping plastics out of the ocean saves beaches and a whole lot more.
IKEA is following suit with its own mushroom-based packaging that the brand has starting using in furniture packaging and bottle holders. The packages break down in a garden in a matter of weeks, and give back to the soil.
IKEA does a lot of packaging and a lot of shipping…something tells me we’re going to see more and more of this.
