Face Masks Are Here to Stay
What a difference a crisis makes!!
I can remember not too long ago … as in March 2020 … when a face mask for me was a skin care product. When a face mask was something you wore when visiting someone in the hospital. When a face mask was something you kind of “wondered why” when you saw someone wearing it on an airplane.
When a face mask was an extreme measure of safety that we would never experience as a daily routine.
What a difference a crisis makes … a day, a week, a month!
Now in the US and in many parts of the world, a face mask is becoming a standard of life. Retail stores like Whole Foods are handing them out as you enter the store. Admittedly, it took me awhile to embrace them. They’re awkward, sweaty, and uncomfortable. But I’m warming up to the idea and I know eventually I’ll embrace the concept fully. I’m getting there but it’s not easy. Face masks are not something that’s fun by any means.
But now it seems like the designers are getting into face masks. Patterns, designs, statements. You know what’s coming next … face masks will be a form of self-expression as we match them with our outfits. I’ll jump in, I know I will. I’ll have to.
Face masks are here to stay. And as we see brand after brand switch over their manufacturing to produce face masks to keep people safe, I feel no choice but to embrace the concept.
From a marketing perspective, it’ll be fun to watch the brands embrace the concept too.
