When I was young (from middle school through high school through college and beyond), I was a massive tennis player. Every week, sometimes every day. My idols were Jimmy Connors and Chrissy Everet. With the huge amount of attention on Serena Williams at the U.S.Open this year, it’s rekindled my love of the sport.

The entire time I was playing I used a Wilson T2000 medal racket … the same one used by Jimmy Connors. I loved that racket. Basically slept with it at the side of my bed and carried it everywhere. During grad school I had an internship at Johnson & Johnson and during one of the sales meetings I left that racket in the overhead compartment of the plane I was on. I was devastated. Never got it back.

And my game was never the same again. Might be odd to say but that racket was such a part of my life that nothing ever really fit again.

Well do you know what my husband got me for my birthday last year? All these years later!?! A vintage Wilson T2000 tennis racket. Thanks to ebay! Right from the 1970’s. Who knows, it might even be the one I had!

Now is that love? Love of sport, love of family.

P.S. the Wilson brand is making a comeback. My son just went to their new store and picked up a bunch of apparel. Very cool.
