Let's Grab a Beer
Allow me to write one more post about the Super Bowl advertising this year. Indulge me, it’s fun!
When reviewing the spots, I always look for cultural relevance, creativity, resonance, and ability to break through. And of course … the insight! What’s the insight!?!?
While it sounds obvious, I hate to say that too many times there isn’t an obvious insight. Maybe it’s there, maybe it’s not. But without it, it’s hard for a spot to be culturally relevant, creative, resonant, and breakthrough.
So I’d like to pick my pick for this year’s best insight from the Super Bowl commercial buffet. It’s a rather obvious insight … the natural human desire to be together. Whether in tough times or good times, we all want to be together.
Anheuser-Busch clearly nailed that insight in their Super Bowl spot this year with their portfolio take on “Let’s Grab a Beer.”
“It’s never about the beer
It’s about being together”
So true! And I love how that guy opened the bottle in the restaurant kitchen!
Wish we were together! Let’s grab a beer.
My own personal version of this is when I’m out with a friend, I always ask, “Should we have another one?” And my answer to that is, “If you are asking, then it’s always yes.”
