T-Mobile 5Gin and 5GingerBeer
In the mobile network wars, it appears to be all about the G’s. I’ve never worked the category except for a few projects with AT&T back in the very early days. But I imagine it’s pretty hard to differentiate based on network capacity/reach/quality as to be honest the claims all start to sound the same. Not unusual for most categories.
Which is why I am impressed with T-Mobile’s latest move … the launch of a gin and ginger beer. 5Gin and 5GingerBeer to be exact. Check it out here.
Actual production of the spirits is done in collaboration with a spirits maker, but clearly T-Mobile used it to bring attention to their 5G network. Pretty smart. No claims per se, until you get to the body copy but a great way to relate to the audience.
Pretty smart way to get back into the consideration set … by highlighting something fun as a way to show your prowess.
