VS Collective from Victoria's Secret

Victoria’s Secret has long been known for its own brand of very specific imagery and very specific spokespeople casted as “Angels.” The imagery suited the brand well for years, but as attitudes changed then so too did the brand’s popularity and acceptance.

In a bold but very conscious move, this year Victoria’s Secret announced the VS Collective … a spectrum of spokespeople who represent a wide range of the population. A range more representative of the population and shall we say also more inspiring to the population?

So far there are seven women in the VS Collective, evidently with more to come. Early joiners include Megan Rapinoe (sports star), Priyanka Chopra Jones (actress), and Valentina Sampaio (model and activist). Valentina was actually the first transgender model to be in the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

This is so smart. Spot on to the culture we live in today. A great example of a brand that knows how to evolve. Let’s see if it brings another wave of success.

Do you think it will? What’s your experience? JIM
