I am so inspired by this quote from legendary Maya Angelou on two levels.
!) As a brand … central to my class at NYU is the notion that brands need to deliver an emotional benefit. Yes, products deliver a functional benefit and fulfill a need. But brands differentiate products and offer an emotional connection that create desire and fulfill a want. Consumers need products but they want brands. I constantly ask students, “How does that brand make people feel?” Consumers remember a brand and come back to a brand based on how it makes them feel. Thank you, Maya.
2) As a leader … central to my view as a leader is the notion that leaders serve their teams. Leaders boost people up and guide them to thrive in their role. I want my teams to feel nurtured and supported so that they feel successful. Feel. Thank you, Maya.
