The 25th Hour

I went to an amazing event last night held by BECA .. Black Executive CMO Alliance. A group of people who are working to “create opportunity, access, and equality for black marketers.” Words can’t describe the feelings in the room last night so all I will say is “inspiring” and “inspired.”

Inspired to do more. Inspired to push harder. Inspired to continue to do the work we need to do for that opportunity, access, and equality that we simply must achieve.

There were of course several speakers who offered this inspiration up to us all. One spoke about “the 25th hour” which is that extra time we must all put in to make this happen. It’s on top of everything else we must do day to day in our jobs and in our life. She spoke of putting in that 25th hour even though we may be exhausted from the first 24. And this is what got me … she then said that we all know the people who do. The people who put in that 25th hour to take care of us. We know who those people are. And they inspire us to do it too.

Yes, it’s hard, and yes it’s burdensome. But if we all put in the effort then maybe it makes it a little bit easier for us. Share the work. Help each other. Show up for each other in these efforts.

Such motivation to get out there and work on this. Work. 24, 25, and yes even 26 hours. For each other.

Thank you for including me in such a brilliant life event.
