Woman - Word of the Year 2022
Every year, Dictionary.com chooses a “word of the year” based on the number of searches throughout the year. This year? Woman.
While a number of events sparked a rise in searches for “woman” such as the Women of Iran and the overturn of Roe v. Wade, it was the interview of new U.S. Supreme Court justice Ketanji Brown Jackson that created a 1,400% increase in searches for the word “woman.” She was asked to define the word “woman,” and she responded “no I can’t.”
Brava.
Good choice, Dictionary.com. I’m with you.
