Peloton with (a nude) Christopher Meloni
As part of its more recent “Motivation that Moves You” campaign, Peloton just released a new advert featuring celebrity Christopher Meloni … nude. Good way to attract attention, especially when the brand released the video on #NationalNudeDay.
BTW, did you even know there was a #NationalNudeDay? Peloton does.
But here’s why the ad works, from my perspective. Aesthetically, looking good when you’re nude is a benefit of fitness for many. I believe Christopher Meloni is one of those people and he shows it well.
More importantly though, he’s not on a Peloton cycle or in a Peloton cycling class which is what the brand is most notably known for. No in fact he’s doing a wide range of fitness exercises showcasing the fact that you don’t have to be a cyclist to be part of the Peloton community. That’s the brilliant part because I’m betting that this is a weak spot for the Peloton brand. If potential members think you have to be into cycling then it limits their pool to a much smaller fitness base.
Christopher Meloni just opened the brand’s pool up wide, including those who don’t believe in gym wear! And he’s not exactly a kid nor an athlete, making him highly relatable across ages while also inspiring.
