It’s a big week for Rihanna … first the Super Bowl halftime show with the highest profile baby bump premiere ever and now the announcement that her fragrance Fenty will be a “permanent fixture” at Sephora. Well done.
To celebrate, the brand launched a social campaign featuring two LGBTQ+ couples, the most notable of which is the coupling of two Miss Universe contestants … Mariana Varela (Miss Argentina) and Fabiola Valentín (Miss Puerto Rico). The couple have captured the attention of the world with some mystery about their relationship. No more as they chose this moment and this brand to go public.
Perfect timing. Perfect message about love for Valentine’s Day. And perfect mysterious match for the brand’s mysterious essence with this unisex fragrance.
Also not lost as a major marketing moment … the new red lipstick that Rihanna debuted in the Super Bowl, makeup mirror and all. Like I said, perfect timing. There are no coincidences in marketing.
