The Beckhams for Uber Eats at The Super Bowl
Teasers for the upcoming Super Bowl advertising are coming in fast and furious. Back in the day, we never saw anything about the advertising until game time, except for maybe an announcement that a brand was planning to advertise. All the thrill came during the game and a Super Bowl party would quiet right down when there was a commercial break.
Then over time we saw brands release their full spots in advance of the game to make sure enough people viewed it to recover the investment and also to perhaps make sure people saw it multiple times so they would remember it. Repetition helps.
Now it seems like we are not going to see very many, if any, full spots in advance. But there are plenty of teasers to build the anticipation for the bigger of the advertisers. I mean at $7m for 30 seconds, you’d want to build excitement and anticipation too!
Here’s a clever teaser for Uber Eats that really caught my attention, featuring the Beckhams who are largely a U.K. celebrity couple with now interest growing in the U.S. over the last few years. Their latest documentary has also helped their popularity in the U.S. as well as the growing interest in World Cup Soccer … as has their engaging presence on TikTok. It all adds up!
Here’s the teaser …
What I like about it is that it really is a teaser. Just a glimpse of what’s to come. It leaves you wondering what’s what and where it’s going to go. That’s what a teaser does. And it’ll leave people talking about it when it will air during the game. And when it likely hits all the recaps the next day. All the point. ROI on that $7m investment.
And here we are talking about it! What’s your experience? JIM
