I just recently finished the series Modern Love on Amazon. I believe that it was the first show I’ve ever watched on Amazon, and now the bar is set high. I loved it.

The series is simply a series of love stories, one per episode. They don’t fit into each other, but rather each is a stand alone take on love…all different sorts of love. The show is based on an infamous column from The New York Times of the same name, and all of the stories are true. Makes it even better!

Aside from perhaps the last one, my absolute favorite episode is the one featuring Anne Hathaway who suffers from Bipolar Disorder. The episode is amazing and should be required viewing for all IMHO. The depth that the storyline brings to understanding of people who suffer from Bipolar Disorder is nothing short of incredible. I’ve worked in healthcare marketing my entire career and have even worked on medicines for Bipolar Disorder, and this episode grew my understanding to an entirely new level. I really had no idea of what the suffering is actually like and the impact that it has on people’s lives. Heartbreaking. But it also shows how modern advancements in therapies can help reduce that impact. This is a story of love, suffering, and hope all wrapped into a emotional thirty minutes.

I’d like to say thank you to the show’s creators for tackling this issue with such care and enlightenment. It’s helping us all to grow in our own care and enlightenment for others. Thank you.
