That Bud Light Guy at the World Series
Some of the best marketing is in the moment, and with social media, brands can make a moment magical.
Like this magical moment at the World Series. A gentleman had just returned to his seat, with a Bud Light tall boy in each of his hands. At that moment, the batter hit the ball straight at him in the stands, it what was looking to be a direct hit. The guy in the stands could have easily dropped his two beers to catch the ball, but elected to save the beers instead. The ball got deflected by someone sitting right by him and the ball landed right at his feet.
Budweiser seized the moment, and immediately sent out a tweet to find this guy and “reward him” for saving his Bud Lights. And found him they did, and he’ll now be at the next game probably wearing a Bud Light shirt and drinking more Bud Light. Right on camera I am sure..
Magical. Here’s the actual video:
Amazing. And sounds so simple, right! For a brand like Bud Light to do something like this so fast, takes a lot of commitment to being constantly aware of what’s going on in pop culture and being ready and able to respond to it. You can’t make this up, but you can be there to capture it.
Well done and something that all brands should aspire to being so agile in their marketing.
