Burger King Says, "Order from McDonald's"
Today is Election Day in the US and I wasn’t going to post my (nearly) daily blog entry today because our agency is closed for the day to give our team mates the team needed to vote and process. So I wasn’t going to post because I know everyone in the US and also around the world is focused on today’s activities.
But then this came along from Burger King in the UK with similar messaging coming from other Burger King countries throughout Europe. Burger King is known for both poking and embracing its rival McDonald’s but this one is a huge hug not for the brand but for its employees.
Wow.
As the pandemic situation worsens throughout Europe and many other parts of the world, Burger King is calling for solidarity to protect the livelihoods of the employees throughout the industry. Calling to protect all fast food employees whether fast or not (as they say).
It’s this kind of solidarity in tough times that should happen between all rivals and allies and everyone in between. In all industries. In all facets of life.
I take great inspiration from this, today and every day. And it’s this kind of activity that makes me proud to be in marketing. And makes me believe in the power of brands.
Unite. What’s your experience? JIM
