More Super Bowl (Advertising) Highlights
There was pretty much agreement that although the crop of Super Bowl adverts were perhaps on the “safe” side, there is also agreement that they were universally more creative than in years past. But then again, I always think that they’re pretty creative. It’s the business we are in!
Yesterday, I picked my favs in a traditional blog post, following my Twitter Party at #SuperBowlExp. Today, I’d like to call out a few others that perhaps weren’t my favs but still caught my attention. From a marketing perspective.
Facebook. This was Facebook’s first Super Bowl spot. And while many thought the brand would focus on privacy issues, instead it focused on its groups. Perhaps showing the benefits of using Facebook to create and engage with like-minded groups.
Snickers. Snickers came out early in the game with a new campaign but one that is very consistent with its “You’re Not Yourself” theme. Essentially, the world needs a Snickers right now and I’d have to agree.
Walmart. I have to say that I was a bit surprised by the Walmart submission this year. Super creative. Lots of borrowed interest that quite honestly just worked. The crowd I was with absolutely loved it. A bit of a breakthrough for the brand.
It was a good year, I’m happy to say. I’m betting we’ll see many of these spots for weeks to come.
What were your favs? What’s your experience? JIM
