Broadcasting from Home
With our in-home sheltering continuing full speed ahead, we’re seeing more and more celebrities broadcast their shows from home. Jimmy Fallon may have been one of the firsts, proving that it can work. Especially when he pulls in his kids and wife. Just as entertaining. Doing it every night! Many others soon followed.
And of course we had the “Living Room Concert for America,” where many entertainers entertained us from their couches at home. Well done.
Just this week, we’ve seen a few celebrities surprisingly enter the game by broadcasting from home.
John Zrasinski launched a YouTube channel that broadcasts only good news. It’s called SGN (Some Good News), complete with homemade logo…as in made by his kids.
I was also beaming with Joy when I saw that Dolly Parton is going to broadcast bedtime stories every night from her home. Dolly! Turns out that Dolly created an organization that distributes books to children all around the world…it’s called The Imagination Library. Having Dolly read a bedtime story every night is a natural fit both for the nonprofit and for families struggling at home.
And then of course there’s Kelly Clarkson. Her new hit show, like many, has gone on lockdown so she is at home with her family. But that doesn’t stop her from delivering her now infamous “Kellyoke” cover songs, direct from her bathroom! And thank you Kelly for asking us all to “be a little kinder.”
Some say it’s easy for them to do this … rich, successful, not a care in the world. I tend to disagree. In many cases, they are contributing to charities and giving back. Most of them are stuck at home too, with kids and spouses and work demands (hopefully). And in all cases, they are entertaining us when we need it, providing relief from the anxiety we are all facing, and also showing us that there is still a normalcy to what we are experiencing. Showing us that they are in it too. Despite their personal fame and success. Thank you for that.
