"We Are Family" #MusicMonday

My daughter’s wedding was two weeks ago and I’m still living off of the high. What a life moment! What a family affair! Made particularly meaningful in the middle of a pandemic.

As the Father of the Bride #FOB, tradition calls for me to do the first toast to kick off the reception. I decided to do something a bit different and pay homage to our new extended family. Our own family is quite mixed and split from divorce many years ago. My husband and I have been together for a very long time and have worked hard to keep everyone together through life’s adventures. My new son-in-law’s family is also beautifully mixed so it was my duty to bring everyone together on this joyous occasion.

So I asked everyone to come up on the dance floor to help me with the toast and I had pre-arranged with the brand that when I shout out “We Are Family” then the band will kick into the iconic song from Sister Sledge.

Nailed it. What a moment! The bride and groom were shocked and everyone else instantly started dancing. How could you not?!?

I’m reliving that moment all week long!
