IKEA Love Seats for Pride

IKEA in Canada last week released a concept line of love seats in honor of Pride … the small couches are for design and display only, not for retail sale, and are meant to tell the stories of LGBTQ+ community members. Each couch was designed by a member of the community and each represents one of the Pride community flags. Take a look …

The concept is very interesting … creating a love seat where people can sit and tell their own love story, as supported by that particular Pride flag. The designs are so beautifully symbolic and the designer stories are inspiring. So creative.

Reaction was mixed, as you can imagine. Especially surrounding the design inspired by the bisexual flag where the bisexual designer used a poem he wrote when he was fifteen years old.

I applaud the boldness, the showcasing of LGBTQ+ talent, and the mission to share our stories. Because when we share our stories, we help build community and individual strength.
