"If I Should Lose My Way" #MusicMonday
One of my favorite singers of all time is Linda Eder. Her Broadway roots taught her to belt it out, and man can she deliver! Two years after the tragedy of 9/11, my husband and I saw Linda in a holiday concert where, among some holiday classics, she sang the song “If I Should Lose My Way,” that had appeared on her recent album. I had played the song many many times over and loved it for its softness. A sharp contrast to her big anthemic songs.
But I didn’t know the meaning of the song until she explained it that night in concert. On 9/11, so many people left their homes and families and friends in the morning, completely expecting that they would be home again at night. Many of them didn’t make it home that day. Many of them “lost their way” due to the terrorism we witnessed and suffered from.
So it turns out that “If I Should Lose My Way” is actually a tribute to those folks who didn’t make it home on 9/11. Wow.
We just experienced the 20th anniversary of that horrific day, so I thought it fitting to make it today’s #MusicMonday.
Stay safe please. What’s your experience? JIM
