Dolly Parton x Duncan Hines
Seriously, is there nothing that this brand can’t do … and do better …
We’ve got ice cream, albums, children’s books, books, songs, greeting cards, concerts, tv shows, movies, soundtracks, a theme park, documentaries, oh and yes vaccines … folks we have Dolly Parton the brand.
And now the brand has just expanded with a limited edition collaboration with Duncan Hines for southern-inspired cake mixes and frostings (and recipes and accessories) inspired by Dolly’s love for cooking and baking. US-Southern cooking and baking. Here’s a look at Dolly’s visit to CBS Mornings tv show where she talks about the collab …
The limited edition set WAS only available online, and guess what, it’s already sold out. Of course, just like her concerts But fear not, evidently the items will be hitting grocery store shelves soon as well.
You are witnessing a powerful brand here. Seven decades of charting songs on the music charts which has fueled a long list of collaborations and products launches year after year after year. Each uniquely Dolly. Each only Dolly.
As I plan to talk to my NYU class about next week … essentially a cake mix is a cake mix. But a cake mix from Dolly Parton brings the power of brand equity/emotion to the “mix” that sells out in a heartbeat.
Dolly, we will always love you (and your brand).
What’s your experience? JIM
Note: not sure I’ve ever written about Duncan Hines before in all years that I’ve been blogging and here goes Dolly giving me a reason to comment. :) Powerful brand equity.
