Customer Service Excellence at GoDaddy
I personally use GoDaddy for my personal domain and email needs and I had the most incredible customer service experience with one of the technicians the other day.
I had hit a rather expensive snafu with some domain re-registrations that was honestly user error. My fault and my lack of full understanding. I tried to fix it myself but of course hit a dead end. So I called the customer service line and got a live technician right away. Something that doesn’t always happen these days when calling any customer service line.
The technician quickly saw the issue and worked hard to find a manual override that would work better and be cheaper. By the end of the process he made my life easier and saved me money.
But the magic happened during the process. He explained that he needed more than a few minutes to figure it all out and asked if I minded waiting or if I wanted him to call me back. I’ve learned my lesson in general that when you have a live helper on the line then you stay on the line!
While he was doing his work, he took the time to view what my work was all about and noticed that I had written a few books and that one was specifically about fatherhood. He got all excited and asked me a few questions and then told me that he was on Amazon right then and there and bought a copy. An e-copy of course!
I was blown away. Not necessarily because he bought a book, which was lovely. But that he took the time to learn about me and my needs, and he factored that into the service and into what he did to solve my problem. And was super friendly and inquisitive the entire time.
It was a wow. It was inspiring. It was something that anyone in customer service can learn from.

P.S. The new GoDaddy logo above was launched in 2020. Many liked the personality of the old logo better but I must say it’s rather clean. I like it! Well now especially because I like GoDaddy.
