Sprinkles Cupcake ATM
I was on the west coast this weekend, touring around Santa Monica, CA which is one of my favorite spots in the States. I happened upon this cupcake vending machine from local bakery Sprinkles and just had to smile. Not just because anyone can now get a cupcake on demand but because of my students at NYU.
We are about to cover distribution in an upcoming class where we talk about how brands should get creative about where they distribute their products to best represent what the brand is all about but also to meet consumers where they are living. Then I try to get them to brainstorm new ideas for brands to distribute their products perhaps in unexpected but effective places.
This cupcake ATM is a perfect example, one that I’m going to use in class. Yum.
Also, this is a good example of a small business doing cool big things. Acting like a big brand with a big idea, yet one that is so simple and effective. Inspiring.
What about your brand? Where could you distribute to meet your consumers? What’s your experience? JIM
