100th Anniversary of Columbia Pictures

January 10, 2024 will mark the 100th Anniversary of Columbia Pictures, what is now the 3rd largest entertainment studio. Quite an accomplishment when you think of the longevity of most companies, most entertainment companies, and most companies rooted in popular culture. Fifty years would be a long time, let alone one hundred years. Survival mergers, economies, cultural changes, and their own challenges.

The anniversary celebration will include a “commemorative book with 100 iconic moments, festival screenings, live concerts of prominent film scores, and curated home entertainment products from its library.”

Sounds like quite the nostalgic look back and quite well deserved. I’m betting “Ghost Busters” is in there somewhere!

In preparation for the big day, the company released a new logo, see above. It still features the iconic Miss Liberty, first introduced in the early 1990’s, but incorporates the one hundred milestone to set the stage for what’s to come.
