Dolly Parton "We Are The Champions" #MusicMonday
Well well well, what a #MusicMonday we have today! From none other than Dolly Parton. She’s been talking about putting together a “rock & roll” album to celebrate her entrance into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Well it looks like we are hearing the first single coming out to tease the release.
“We Are The Champions,” a classic from the iconic brand Queen.
Well, there’s more. Dolly has partnered with NBC Universal to also start promoting next summer’s Olympic Games being held in Paris. Voila, here’s the video …
The album appears to be a blockbuster with a total of 30 songs (yes, 30) including 9 originals and 21 covers. Wow, now that’s an album release.
A little nostalgia, Queen was my very first concert that I ever attended in my hometown of Syracuse, NY. It was at the then HUGE Syracuse University Carrier Dome where the school’s football and legendary basketball teams played. With the passing of vocalist Freddie Mercury, you may know that Adam Lambert takes the stage with Queen now. Here he takes the lead …
Simply amazing.
I give Dolly a lot of credit here. She just keeps expanding her brand over and over again all through the ages and stages of her career. She’s fearless and a force. Not an easy feat to cover a song like this, and while it’s not perfection for me personally, it is Dolly. All Dolly. It can’t be easy feat to go from Country Western and Blues and Folk to “Rock & Roll,” although I for one hate all of those labels and the judgements that can come from them. It’s all music to my ears.
What’s your experience? JIM
