Barbie on International Women's Day #IWD #MusicMonday
The ultimate never disappoints …
To celebrate International Women’s Day, Barbie launched yet another series of new dolls representing very famous women in the arts. The new collection includes these international role models:
Helen Mirren (actress from U.K.)
Viola Davis (actress from the U.S.)
Shania Twain (singer from Canada)
Kylie Minogue (singer from Australia)
Maira Gomez (influencer from Brazil)
Nicole Fujita (model from Japan)
Lila Avilés (director from Mexico)
Enissa Amani (comedian from Germany)
These are all inspiring women who are not only very talented leaders in their chosen space, but also women who have faced their own life’s journey with courage, compassion, and determination (my words).
In the words of the brand …
“In honor of International Women's Day,
these dolls are based off women who inspire girls
through storytelling and encourage them to be brave, confident, and daring.”
Since this is #MusicMonday, let’s celebrate music from two of these iconic women. First up, perhaps the most famous (infamous) songs from Shania Twain. I just love those opening chords! “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.”
And then one of my favorite songs from Kylie Minogue. “Love at First Sight.”
And I just have to also call out last night’s big Oscar winner, Billie Ellish, for her original song from the movie “Barbie” this year. I’ve written about it before for #MusicMonday, but have to mention it again here. Congrats Billie for a wonderful piece of art, both the song, the performance, and the video.
We can always count on Barbie to represent, and the brand did not disappoint for this year’s #IWD.
What’s your experience? JIM
