Brands on International Women's Day #IWD
Friday was International Women’s Day, which is a holiday that occurs every year on March 8th to put a spotlight on issues that women face like gender equality, healthcare, and violence. Its earliest origins date back to 1909 in New York City although it became a known holiday after The Russian Revolution in 1917 and then again when it was more formally recognized by the United Nations in 1977.
In more recent years, we’ve seen brands honoring the holiday with messages of support, programs that give back, and platforms to share voices in the many causes. The theme this year was “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.” Progress indeed.
“The Drum” did a great recap of their picks of the best of the best in brand activity on #IWD; give a click here to give it a read.
The magazine “Women’s Health” put a spotlight on women-owned businesses with a plug to shop and support.
“Forbes” showed their support by highlighting six female-founded fashion brands.
And since it’s also Women’s History Month here in the U.S., NBC highlighted 11 brands that are giving back to the movement.
Great (and inspiring) to see all the brand activity come to life to support women as they (let’s face it) support the world.
I would also personally like to thank the many women who mentored me, supported me, coached me, put up with me, and dare I say loved me through the years. I am who I am because of all of you. Thank you.
