Linda Eder in Cabaret #Music Monday
I know it’s already Tuesday this week, but bear with me as I was still caught up in the holiday weekend so I’m a day late. But this week’s #MusicMonday is too timely to wait another week.
Last Friday night I saw the legendary Linda Eder in cabaret here in New York City. She’s Broadway fame, and has had a buffet of albums released throughout her career. Her voice is singularly one of the finest I have ever heard. And at a self-identified and full grey 62 years old, she’s still got it. It was inspiring to say the least. I’ve seen her many many times through the years, but this venue was the smallest so it was extra special.
Linda called it a “Tribute Show” so she sang a very different mix of songs, all from iconic singers or shows. My favorite by far was a song from “Les Mis” called “Bring Him Home.” She brought down the house. Here’s a video from another time where she also sang this Broadway classic.
Another highlight was Olivia Newton John’s “I Honestly Love You.” Breathtaking. She got a standing ovation when she sang her own Broadway debut “Someone Like You.” Here’s that song from earlier in her career.
And of course she had to sing fan fav “Vienna.”
She ended the night with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” which she turns into tear jerker.
What a night! What a voice! What an experience? One I hope to relive again, as I have done before. I love NY!
What’s your experience? JIM
