Smokey Bear Turns 80
The “Smokey Bear” campaign is the longest running PSA (public service announcement) in history. Its origins are from World War II when concerns from Japanese incoming bombs creating forests fires in California sparked the need for citizens to be more aware and to potentially spring into action. Who knew?!?

Through the years, Brand Smokey Bear has proliferated into television shows, merchandise, signage at parks, and songs too, becoming not just a PSA but one of the most enduring and most beloved brands of all time.
So assured, so resourceful, so purposeful, so consistent yet refreshed through the years. Signs of a powerful brand. And still going strong and serving needs at 80 years old.
